Civil Practice Lead

Job Description

A privately held ENR Top 200 engineering consulting firm is seeking to hire a Civil Practice Lead to build and lead their Land Development Civil Engineering Practice in the Chicago area. This firm has experienced steady organic growth and now has over twenty offices nationwide. This well-established firm is a leader in the practice areas of civil engineering, ecological sciences, environmental engineering and sciences, waste management and water resources. This position affords this individual the opportunity to practice autonomy in growing the land development practice in Chicago, while still benefitting from the support of a broader, national firm.

  • Manage project teams to create land development plans for commercial, institutional, and energy clients.
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers
  • Review the design aspects of projects which will include site layouts, grading plans, storm water management facilities, water quality best management practices and utilities
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and local government officials
  • Oversee projects from start to finish, from conceptual design phases, through regulatory review process, bidding, and construction
  • Interface with new and existing clients to market services
  • Strong experience with land development civil engineering
  • BS/MS in Civil Engineering
  • PE Registration
  • Local and national contacts and the ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
  • Ability to speak and write professionally
  • Demonstrated client development and management experience
  • Experienced in planning, organizing, and overseeing civil engineering projects for diverse market sectors
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, technical professionals and targeted client base
  • Ability to provide senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the civil engineering practice

Salary commensurate with experience
