Transportation Construction Practice Leader

Job Description

This is an opportunity within an award-winning, privately held, Texas-based firm that provides planning, design and management services in all aspects of civil, traffic and transportation engineering, public works and municipal services, and program and construction management. This growing firm is seeking to hire a talented individual to lead and manage its transportation construction practice.

  • Develops business and future projects by identifying clients and client needs, marketing to clients for delivery of solutions; serves as client relations manager
  • Collaborates with firm leadership and business development department to identify project opportunities, develops and prepares qualification submissions
  • Prepares proposals to provide professional services and assists in business development activities
  • Manages assigned projects for successful delivery to clients by coordinating and implementing project planning, risk management, schedule development, budget development, establishment and implementation of project controls, client communications, and managing change
  • Directs project staff of engineers, technicians, inspectors, and administrative personnel, as required and assigned for the projects to achieve successful results for the client
  • Prepares and coordinates various reports and documents, and oversees compilation and maintenance of records for multiple projects
  • Ability to effectively execute and manage work of TxDOT group for construction management
  • Ability to maintain currency regarding new methods and developments for construction and contracting methods; recommend new practices or changes in emphasis for programs
  • Ability to manage complex projects or programs with varied scope
  • Ability to represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
  • Ability to mentor and develop construction project managers, assistant project managers, technicians, inspectors, and administrative support team members
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others
  • Ability to effectively lead meetings and make presentations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering and construction related to transportation infrastructure and the environment
  • Professional Engineer License required
  • Certification / ability to certify for work categories in cited TxDOT group is required
  • Specialty Certification such as CCM is desirable

Salary commensurate with experience
